Witham Town manager Garry Kimble is pleased with his latest acquisition ahead of their Ryman League division one north game against second-placed Aveley at Spa Road tomorrow.

Four wins from their last five league games has lifted Witham into the top nine in the table and manager Garry Kimble has moved to strength his central defensive options.

He has had good news that Paul Harris may return to training in five to six weeks after an operation on his knee ligaments.

But with Brad Stopher unlikely to return from his knee injury for another three weeks and Rob Whitnell missing due to personal commitments for two weeks following the Aveley game, Kimble has brought in Alex Finney on loan from Leyton Orient.

Kimble said: “He’s only 16 but he is six foot three and looked good when I played him in our League Cup game (that Witham lost 4-2) against Bury in midweek.

“I thought he acquitted himself well.

“Bury were decent and looked lively up front, but Alex did everything I asked him to and he looked composed on the ball.

“I’m still on the lookout for another defender to strengthen more, but I’ve got no qualms about putting him in against Aveley.”

Kimble added that he had no other fresh injury concerns ahead of the game against Aveley.
