Christmas show – the band in full party mode
FANS of the music of movie duo the Blues Brothers may enjoy an event next week at the Palace Theatre, Westcliff.
Billed as Jake and Elwood’s Christmas Party, the show features a Blues Brother tribute duo, backed by the Black Rhino Band.
As well as the classic blues and Stax/Atlantic soul tunes featured in the John Landis film, expect to hear songs by James Brown, Ray Charles and other soul artists plus a few festive favourites, too.
Songs in the band’s repertoire include Sam and Dave’s Soul Man, James Brown’s Living in America, I Feel Good and It’s a Man’s World, Solomon Burke’s Everybody Needs Somebody, and other tunes from the movie, including Sweet Home Chicago and Minnie the Moocher.
Jake and Elwood’s Christmas Party Palace Theatre, London Road, Westcliff Thursday, December 20 8pm. £14-£21 01702 351135
