I would like to thank the Braintree and Witham Times for running the article about Iori Williams’s accident (Times, November 26).

I have to say I was upset and very sorry that you felt unable to print the picture of his injuries – apparently too horrific for readers to see, it might have caused distress.

I think this would have served as a very timely warning to pedestrians in the town to be extremely careful. One would not expect such damage to be done by a careless cyclist. Someone’s life changed in a second.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the many, many friends and acquaintances who have sent cards, letters and made telephone calls inquiring about Iori’s progress.
