Regarding the development off the Service Road/Yard 3 in Maldon Road, Witham, it can only result in more congestion in Maldon Road itself.
A large area of the service road has been lost to car parking and storage bins, resulting in delivery vehicles reversing into and out of Maldon Road and often unloading in Maldon Road itself.
That planning permission has been granted for this to provide parking and access to six offices, reception and a large conference room above Select is ridiculous.
Are we to see other applications for similar use above the other four units serviced by this access road?
There is no footpath or streetlighting and, in addition to reversing lorries, there are forklift trucks and hydraulic motorised pallets to dodge.
Piecemeal development like this can only lead to further fragmented development and congestion on an overloaded highway network.
