Well done to our local councillors who have rubbished a development of 2,000 houses, employment use, a football stadium and new sites for Braintree College and the BMX track (Times, December 3).
Are they part of the council that increased the rates of the Bay Tree Garden centre from £6,000 to £16,000?
We need more employment opportunities in Braintree, as Moia Thorogood stated, yet if that’s how business rates get increased, is it no wonder we cannot get any new employers to come here?
With all the new housing that has gone on on the past 15 years, without new employment opportunities, it is no wonder we have so many people looking for work, and can’t find it?
Also, how are people expected to get to work when the bus service they use is taken away?
