Stop dog dirt on our pitches

A while ago Braintree Rugby Club had problems of dogs fouling on and around our rugby pitches.

Helped by the council and dog warden, we put up extra bins. The problem started again. We put up posters and these were torn down.

Recently, ten bags of dogs mess were removed from the King George playing field before a youth game. Representatives from Essex County Rugby removed dogs mess from our 1st XV pitch before an under-16s county game.

What does that say to the people from Essex and Eastern Counties Rugby about Braintree people?

Our pitch areas are private property leased from the council for rugby. We encourage dog owners at the club, even in the clubhouse, and are happy for responsible dog owners to walk their dogs round the pitches.

However, more than 400 children, some as young as three, play rugby at the club. Toxicara canis can be passed from dog faeces to these children and cause blindness.

Help us to keep the pitches clean.

If you own a dog, clean up after it and use the bins we have helped to provide. If you have a neighbour who you think is being irresponsible, or if you see someone not cleaning up after their dog, ring the dog warden.

We will be so grateful, and so will more than 400 children.
