Susan Sharman is trying to find out who some of the people are in this photograph of her husband’s family.
The picture was taken in about 1918. The baby in the photo was Mr Sharman’s mother, Rosa Isabel Sams, who was born that year. The lady holding her was her mother, Charlotte Sams, nee Troupe.
The man in the middle at the back of the photo was Alfred Sams, born in 1895 at Duck End Farm, Lindsell, and husband of Charlotte and father of Rosa.
His father was Eli Sams, who was born in Lindsell and moved to Dunmow in the early 1900s, where he owned a dairy. It is believed his son Andrew and his wife won the Dunmow Flitch in 1932.
Mrs Sharman said: “I am trying to find out who the rest of the people are. I believe they are all the siblings of Alfred Sams.”
The older woman is thought to be Rosa Sams, nee Richardson, who was born in about 1866 and was Rosa’s grandmother.
Anyone who can help is asked to e-mail Mrs Sharman at sharman.armond247@bt internet.com
