A busy Colchester road was closed this afternoon after a car dramatically overturned.

The female driver of a Nissan Micra was taken to Colchester General Hospital with minor injuries after the incident on the roundabout at Westway, near Balkerne Hill, at around 3.30pm.

Police closed the road for around 20 minutes while firefighters cut the woman free.

One lane then re-opened to get traffic flowing while the car was recovered and debris cleared.

A police spokesman said the crash was being investigated.

While we all wish the driver a speedy recovery (unlike the unfortunate vehicle)
by the amount of damage on the cars front offside, it has hit something hard,
surely not just them posts while upside down.
The picture did remind me of Arena Essex though.
sorry...

The driver is my sister inlaw.
I find it sad that people are so quick to point the finger and be disrespectful when they do not have all the facts. This is with regards to posts which have been removed.
She is not a bad driver nor a bad mother for having her children in the car.
She lost contol of the car due to medical reasons of which the police are aware.
so please keep any nasty coments to youself. My sister inlaw has been through enough.
