Sweet Charity Choir has raised over £1,500 for HARP, Southend’s Homeless Charity, at a sold-out concert last month.

The choir was created in January 2017 by Jenny Deacon, and originated from a new year’s resolution to give something back to the world through her music.

The choir has already raised over £5,500 for various charities this year, and in July they held a special concert for HARP at St Laurence Church Hall in Southend.

Their fundamental mission is to join together and learn exciting and bespoke arrangements and to raise money for a different charity every month, which is selected by members of the choir.

Creative and passionate choir mistress Jenny Deacon is a professional and experienced musician, singer, composer and musical director with a career that spans over 13 years.

Jenny’s ethos shines through the singers in her choir who perform with heart and soul. After months of preparation the choir dazzled the audience at their charity concert in July and they have raised a phenomenal £ 1,597.02 through their efforts!

HARP’s community fundraiser, Lisa Walton said: “It has been an absolute pleasure to be involved with the Sweet Charity Choir these last few months. They are a wonderful group of talented singers and they are raising so much money for local charities simply by doing what they love. I was blown away by their performance and we are so grateful for their fundraising efforts at HARP. When times are hard for the people we are supporting, news that local people are working so hard to raise money to help them find a better future can make an enormous difference; what a wonderful venture by a wonderful leader. We cannot thank Jenny and her choir enough!”
