Police are investigating following an incident in Rochford where a man was stabbed after two drivers were spotted arguing in the street.

Officers were called at around 4.55pm yesterday, July 30 to reports a man had been assaulted following an argument between two drivers in Cherry Orchard Way, near the junction of Hall Road.

One witness, who has asked not to be named, said: "A guy got out of a white Polo and another man got out of a white Ford Focus RS.

"They were arguing about something and then the man who got out of the Polo plunged a knife into his chest.

"It was horrible. I've never seen anything like it.

"The victim was able to drive himself home I think before he was airlifted to hospital."

Other witnesses reported seeing an air ambulance land near Brendan Way, Eastwood.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound to his chest.

His injury is not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We believe this was an isolated incident and there is no risk to the wider public.
