A MARRIED trainee doctor sexually assaulted four female patients during physical exams, a court has heard.

Kamran Ali, 39, of Glendale Gardens, Leigh, is charged with six counts of sexual assault and one count of assault by penetration on four different women.

Opening the case for the prosecution at Basildon Crown Court yesterday, Stephen Rose told the jury the offences took place between September and November 2016 where Dr Ali was completing training at the Hollies Surgery, in Rectory Road, Hadleigh.

Mr Rose told the court the first complainant went to the surgery in November and after routine checks, the appointment “took a turn”.

He said: “The defendant asked her if she was sexually active. She was asked to remove her trousers and he initially examined her in a standing position.

“She was then asked to lie down on the bed and he asked her again if she was sexually active.”

Mr Rose then described how Dr Ali moved the victim’s underwear and touched her sexually, without wearing gloves, before touching her breasts.

“Throughout, she was concerned and unsettled both by the things he said and the way he touched her.”

The court heard the victim discussed the incident with her mother in the car on the way home before making a formal complaint the following day.

Other incidents included a woman who had an appointment on November.

Mr Rose said: “While taking her blood pressure his hand was on top of hers and he asked her to lie down.”

It is claimed Dr Ali examined her back and lifted her shorts to examine the top part of her buttocks before stroking his hand over her a number of times.

The jury, of seven men and five women, heard he then removed her shorts and touched her intimate areas.

Two other women claim he touched them inappropriately on the legs during physical exams.

Dr Ali denies all charges.

The trial, which is set to last at least two weeks, continues.
