TEENAGERS arrested on suspicion of attempted murder at a house party have been released on bail while investigations continue.

The 16-year-old victim was rushed to hospital after being stabbed three times in the back and side when he left a party in May Avenue, Canvey, on Friday night.

One of the victim’s brothers said: “I got the worst phone call of my life at midnight. I had just fed the baby to be told my youngest brother got stabbed up over nothing - all because he wanted to go to a party with friends and enjoy himself.

“It was critical and we were told no one knew where he was or what hospital he had gone to, we then found out he was in a London hospital so we got in the car and flew up there.

“I was just praying please god and I’m so glad he’s alright.

“Thank god my youngest brother’s alright.

“I just want to thank everyone in the family supporting him and the ambulance team, the hospital and the old bill. Love you bro.

“Anyone who knows anything about my little brother report it now.”

Witnesses reported hearing screams during the attack and neighbours rushed into the street to help the teenager.

Another teenager was punched in the face but managed to escape in a passing taxi without suffering further injuries.

The stabbing victim, who is believed to be from Southend, was taken to Royal London Hospital where he underwent surgery and is now recovering from his injuries.

Police launched an investigation and arrested six people on suspicion of attempted murder within hours of the incident taking place.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “Five boys, aged between 15 and 17, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been released on bail until August 10.

“A 24-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of attempted murder has been released under investigation.”

Police have confirmed they believe the suspects and the victims attended a large party in the area and left at the same time but the investigation is ongoing.

The family of the victim have since taken to social media to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Basildon CID on 101 quoting 1668 of 13/07.
