Four fire crews were called to the scene of a field fire near the A12 this afternoon.
Firefighters attended the scene in Generals Lane, Chelmsford, near the Boreham Junction of the A12, at 3.45pm, bringing the blaze under control by 4.20pm.
Two crews from Chelmsford, one from Great Baddow, and one from Witham tackled the flames, which had spread across a large field of stubble.
Firefighters remained at the scene for a further 30 minutes after the fire was extinguished in order to ensure that the affected area was completely dampened and cooled.
