JUST over 350 walkers took party in the annual Havens to Havens walk to help raise money for a new adult hospice.
Havens Hospices need to raise a final £2.5million towards the £15.4million Fair Havens for Life project, which will see a new hospice created overlooking Priory Park in Prittlewell.
It will replace the Chalkwell Avenue site, which is no longer fit for purpose.
Havens to Havens started at Little Havens Hospice, in Thundersley, and saw participants take in the countryside along the five-mile route through Hadleigh, Old Leigh towards Chalkwell and finishing at Fair Havens Hospice, in Chalkwell.
Rebecca Dogan, 37, from Shoebury, took part in memory of her close friend, Lesley Robinson, who died on March 24 and had attended Fair Havens’ Day Hospice.
She said: “Lesley was an amazing lady – the life and soul of every party.
“She was also incredibly active so I decided it was the best tribute I could do for her.
“I know she’d be willing and cheering me on every step not only because she would have loved this walk, but because she loved going to Fair Havens and would want to help them continue caring for others like they cared for her.”
