POLICE are appealing for help to track down a convicted violent killer who failed to return to prison after taking home leave.

Sean Gomez, 50, who has links to Southend, was released on temporary licence from Hollesley Bay Prison to go to an address in Harlow on Friday May 18, and was due to return on Tuesday afternoon.

Members of the public are advised not to approach him if seen but to get in touch.

However, he has failed to return and was subsequently reported missing to police.

Gomez is serving a six year sentence for manslaughter after being convicted in July 2016.

He was given six years behind bars after being found guilty of the manslaughter of 47-year-old Mustafa Lanleyin.

In September of the previous year, Mr Lanleyin, of Enfield, had gone out with two friends and had got into an altercation with Gomez after asking “what are you looking at?”.

Gomez, of Addison Road, Enfield, grabbed Mr Lenleyin and headbutted, kicked and beat him, even as he was lying on the floor, before dragging him to some nearby bins.

A woman found Mr Lanleyin and called an ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Lanleyin, of Cherry Road, Enfield, was described by police as an unemployed “street drinker”, who was single and did not live with his step-daughter and a son.

Gomez was arrested the next day and was convicted in July.
Suffolk Police is urging members of the public to help them track him down so he can return to prison for the remainder of his sentence.

He is described as white, 5 feet 11 inches tall, of slight build, clean shaven with brown hair and green eyes.

Gomez has links to Southend and Harlow.

Anyone who may have seen Gomez, or who has any information regarding his whereabouts, is asked to contact Suffolk Police on 101.
