British Transport Police are appealing for information following a racial aggravated incident on board a train between Benfleet and Southend Central stations.

The incident happened around 2.45pm on Friday 6 April.

On-board the train service between Fenchurch Street and Shoebury, a man used a number of expletive words while using his mobile phone. A woman, who was travelling with her children, then politely asked the man to stop swearing.

The man then became verbally aggressive, racially abusing the woman. He then threatened two other men on board the train intimidating that he was in possession of a knife. A knife was not seen during the incident.

The man exited the train at Leigh Station.

Officers would like to speak to the man shown in the CCTV images as he may have information which could help the investigation. Likewise, if you were on board the train and saw what happened, please get in touch.
