A man armed with a machete attempted to rob a man in broad daylight. 

Police were called to the scene of an attempted robbery in Nobel Square, on the Burnt Mills Industrial Estate, Basildon, at roughly 2.30pm yesterday. 

The victim reported that he had been approached by a man with a machete, who demanded that he handed over his money. 

The victim refused and managed to leave the scene unharmed.

The man had his face covered, but is described as being white and around 6ft 1inch tall.

We are appealing for anyone who may have information about the incident, especially if you saw a small black or dark green car with two men inside travelling down Courtauld Road towards Eastmayne just after 2.30pm.
