A MAN has spoken of his despair after his car, his wife’s car, and a neighbour’s Porsche were written off while they slept.

The man, who was too upset to be named, had parked his 2011 Ford Fiesta, which he has only had for ten days, outside his house in Wimbourne Road, Southend.

His car was hit while parked and pushed into the back of his wife’s car - and then into a neighbour’s Porsche.

He said: “I didn’t hear anything but everyone I’ve spoken to along the street said they thought it was an explosion.

“My wife heard it and she woke me up.

“She said ‘there’s loads of police outside and your car’s been hit’, so I dived out of bed ran downstairs and there were about seven police officers, three cars and a dog unit.

“What had happened was, he hit my car which shot five foot forward into the back of my wife’s car which then went into the neighbour’s Porsche.

“Apparently there were two people in the vehicle and one got out and ran before the car crashed. The other was later caught by a police dog as he tried to flee the scene.”

The man, who suffered two heart attacks in 2000 and two strokes in 2013 has found the whole ordeal very stressful.

He added: “I wasn’t happy at all, I was totally sick.

“Although it wasn’t brand new it was in mint condition and I’d only bought it ten days before.

“I’ve managed to find another car, so I won’t be without this week but my wife’s going to have to wait now.

“They reckon we should receive an offer from the insurance by Friday.

“It’s just inconvenient because I’m retired but I take my son and daughter to work.

“And I’d bought new number plates and accessories for the car which are useless now.”

A man has been charged in connection with the incident.

Ejiroghene Oluku was arrested after a Volkswagen Passat failed to stop for police in Southchurch Road, Southend, at about 3.40am on Saturday.

Oluku, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with possession of cocaine with intent to supply, possession of heroin with intent to supply, acquiring, using or possessing criminal property, namely cash and dangerous driving.

He appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he didn’t enter a plea, and is next due to appear in Basildon Crown court on April 9.
