A Westcliff man has been arrested on suspicion of assault after a stabbing in Southend.
The incident happened shortly after midnight last night (February 17) and the victim was left with injuries to his shoulder and hand.
Officers recovered a bloody knife while searching the area after being called by paramedics.
The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We have arrested a man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and assault following an incident in Southend today (Saturday, February 17).
"We received a call from the ambulance service shortly after midnight reporting that an 18-year-old man suffered knife wounds to his hand and shoulder, described as neither life-threatening nor changing.
"The victim sustained the injuries after getting into an altercation with the suspect, who left the scene.
"We attended the scene and arrested a 18-year-old man from Westcliff at around 1.25am. He remains in custody for questioning."
