A college in Wickford has officially opened its new building which is dedicated for young people with learning difficulties.
Castledon Sixth Form, in Bromfords Drive, was officially opened after the area’s MP, Mark Francois, came to the college and cut the ribbon.
The courses are aimed at young people with learning difficulties who need a boost in life.
The new section of the college will offer vocational courses and advice on finding a home and being independent.
College PA, Juliet Winsor, said: “We had a lot of parents and carers here, as well as a lot of people from the local community that engage with us here.
“We have got strong links with local businesses such as the high street banks here as well as other schools.
“This new building is giving an additional provision to special needs children in this area.
“The courses we’re offering will help the students here live independent lives.”
As well as Mark Francois, the mayor of Basildon Council, Councillor David Harrison, was also at the inaugural ceremony.
