South Essex's reggae fraternity is gearing up for the return of Misty in Roots, coming to Chinnerys tomorrow night. (Saturday 30).

The legendary band, who have a career spanning four decades, performed to a sell-out crowd in Southend last year, and are hoping for a repeat performance.

Misty in Roots was one of the most powerful live reggae acts to emerge from 1970s London, and they were a major force in the Rock Against Racism movement.

Their first album was 1979's Live at the Counter Eurovision, a record full of Rastafarian songs, championed by BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, helping to bring roots reggae to a white audience

Doors open at 8pm at the seafront venue on Marine Parade.

Tickets are £16 in advance from seetickets.com or £18 on the door, direct from Chinnerys or Fives Records in Broadway, Leigh.

Support comes from Bushfire and DJ Richard Mander.
