Southend Airport is offering free flights to some Ryanair passengers whose flights have been cancelled.

Ryanair has put out a full list of all 1,616 flights that have been cancelled between yesterday and October 28.

Southend Airport has offered free flights to the passengers but conditions apply.

The airport will only give out 100 return tickets on a first come, first served basis. The travel route must be to and from Dublin.

Alternatively, passengers can get free flights to and from the airport’s two new routes to Glasgow and Manchester, but these flights are only available from October 29.

Glyn Jones, chief executive officer of Stobart Aviation, which owns Southend Airport, said: “The free return tickets is a simple gesture, an invitation if you like, to try us instead of the airports hit by the Ryanair cancellations.

“Our free tickets will hopefully cheer up some of the people who have been affected.

“After all, we’re in the business of making people happy.”
