A NEW late-night restaurant and bar serving an unusual combination of Japanese and Peruvian dishes is all set for its big opening in Leigh.

The “lounge eatery” will be situated at the ground floor of the Grand View flats.

Developers, Navana Ltd are behind the new restaurant and bar after their successful application in July.

It will be based in the block opposite the Grand Hotel, off Leigh Broadway.

A spokesman for the restaurant spoke of their excitement about its opening later this year.

They said: “It’s exciting for us and we’re hoping it’s exciting for the local community as well.

“It’s going to be something that Leigh has never seen and something that doesn’t really exist in the UK at all.

“We’re going to be catering for the day and night clientele with some very refined food.

“A lot of theatregoers will no doubt visit and chefs will be infusing foods on tables right in front of our customers.

“It’s a Nikkei menu which is a century old cooking style combining a fusion of Peruvian and Japanese flavours.

“It hasn’t been a cheap venture but it’s top-quality food produced by Michelin star chefs.

“There is a demand for this in Leigh, based on the feedback we received when we carried out a number of surveys.

“We’ll be catering for over 25s only who want a sophisticated evening so they can enjoy a night out without teenagers running around.

They also went on to address the concern regarding noise for nearby residents in the flats above the restaurant.

They added: “We had to go through a number of licensing conditions and hearings after residents appealed.

“But we have made sure that we have taken every precaution to make sure they don’t need to worry.

“We have sub lobbies, suspended walling, and triple acoustics so it shouldn’t be a problem of noise or vibrations. We have no intention of driving anyone out of the flats so we were very mindful of that. We also have door staff and hosts on the doors so we have tight restrictions if anyone is too loud.

“We don’t expect people to be like that though as it will be a refined, sophisticated place.

There was originally some concern amongst residents of the flats above regarding noise and disruption late at night. Last month, resident Jan Simon said: “I don’t mind it being a bar. But opening until two in the morning is going to be problematic for locals.
