A HUGE pile of what looks like building waste has been dumped in a quiet country lane, causing anger from residents.

The mess has been left in Furze Lane, Stock and is blocking the road.

William Biscoe, 22 from Stock said: “I was just walking the dog with my mum and we noticed a few bricks that were in the middle of the road, we cleared them away to the side then walked round the corner and this pile was there.

“It looked like it had been deliberately left there. It was just bits of rubbish and old TVs, I think they came down the lane looking for somewhere to tip.”

A spokeswoman for Chelmsford City Council said, “A fly-tip of builders’ rubbish in Furze Lane has already been cleared.

"Fly-tipping is hugely detrimental to the environment and can result in a fine of up to £50,000 or 12 months in prison.

"We are seeking evidence to identify and prosecute the fly-tipper and ask anyone who witnessed this taking place to contact us through our website at www.chelmsford.gov.uk.”
