Fundraisers in Grays are doing their eighth walk for charity today.

The group, who are regulars at the Wharf pub in Grays, will be walking around pubs in Thurrock to raise money for Breath Easy, a charity that supports people living with lung conditions.

Beginning at the Wharf, the group will be walking around a total of 14 pubs collecting funds for their chosen charity before returning to the pub.

In previous years, the group have raised money for different local charities, including St Luke’s Hospice, the South East Essex Multiple Sclerosis Group, the Basildon baby unit, and Mind Thurrock branch.

Since beginning the walks, the group have raised more than £70,000.
Last year they raised more than £7,000 - £630 from collections on the walk and the rest from sponsorships.

Group member Paul White is optimistic about the walk and is hoping that they will raise eight to nine thousand pounds.

The group chose the charity because one of their members, Martin Conway, has breathing problems and they want to do this for him.
There will also be a disco in the evening at the Wharf pub.
