A NURSE from Chelmsford has been honoured for her work in improving the care of older people.

Geraldine Rodgers, who currently works at North East London NHS Foundation Trust, won the Excellence in Care for Older People Individual award at the prestigious Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards ceremony in central London.

The national charity supports nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants suffering hardship.

Geraldine was nominated by her colleague for her work in improving nursing care for older people, as well as promoting kindness and compassion within the nursing profession.

Geraldine said: “I was so surprised to hear that I’d been nominated for this award, and to find out I’d won was incredible.

“I really enjoy my work with older people and being recognised in this way is a great honour.”

The ceremony took place in front of a packed audience of nurses, midwives and healthcare leaders at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust Chairman Simon Knighton said: “The Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards helps us be here for nurses and midwives, either by supporting them when they face hardship or by celebrating the amazing work that they do every d a y.
