Thurrock MP Jackie Doyle-Price has condemned vandals who destroyed her election posters after she was successfully re-elected for the third time.

The newly-appointed Health minister took to Twitter to share her disdain at finding racist grafitti on her posters in the borough.

The vandals wrote that Jackie Doyle-Price was "fighting for muslims" and then added "muslims are not peaceful" on the back.

Ms Doyle-Price said: "Seems some people don't like the outcome of democracy.

"This is nasty, divisive and un-British. It takes a lot of effort to climb over a ditch into a farmer's field with paint to deface my posters with this rubbish."

Conservative Jackie Doyle-Price kept her Thurrock seat with a majority of just 345 over Labour's John Kent.
