A STRETCH of greenbelt land in Thundersley is a developer’s latest target to construct a new housing estate.

Hertfordshire-based Millen Homes has this week revealed plans to build 16 new homes with an associated connection road on land to the rear of Rayleigh Road.

Planning bosses at Castle Point Council are currently mulling over the blueprints, which show parking for 32 vehicles.

Millen Homes, a developer of luxury homes, has made the application via Hertfordshire agent Andrew King and Associates.

Their design and access statement reads: “We are aware that the land has been identified as a local wildlife site.

“However in recent years it has been used as a dumping ground for all kinds of materials and as a result, with the exception of the protected trees, it has recently been cleared by the owners.

“Prior to the clearance little evidence of wildlife was observed by the applicants’ ecological consultant and no protected species were detected during an inspection of the site.

“The site is deliverable and can be brought forward for development within the plan period.

“It would make a meaningful contribution towards the council’s housing requirements.”

Millen Homes’s application form, accessible via Castle Point Council’s online planning portal, states the number of bedrooms for each home is at the present time is “unknown”.
