A SCHOOL is preparing to hold regular 3km runs in a bid to encourage more people to start running.
Eversley Primary School, in Crest Avenue, Basildon, has organised the races, which will take place on the first Tuesday of May, June and July.
The route will go around the school field and the race is open to children, adults, competitive runners and power walkers.
There will be prizes for the first man, woman, girl and boy. Children from schools across Basildon can also earn points for their school, with the winning school being presented with a trophy.
Organisers Samuel Nigh said: "It's a community run which aims to get as many people as possible running, from children and their parents to competitive club runners.
"We'd love as many people as possible to come along."
Children under 15 go free, adults are £2.
The first race is on Tuesday, at 7.30pm.
