A school has welcomed two councillors on a tour of the school.

Hassenbrook Academy students were delighted to welcome Councillor Sue Little, Thurrock portfolio holder for Safeguarding and Councillor Brian Little (Orsett Ward).

The councillors were welcomed into the school by the Chair of the Stanford and Corringham Schools Trust, Steve Nash and Joanne Williams, the headteacher of Hassenbrook Academy, who began her tenure in January 2017.

An extensive tour of Hassenbrook took both councillors through lessons which they found to be engaging and positive.

Councillor Sue Little was impressed by the improvements in behaviour for learning, teaching and learning and the school environment, which she observed during her tour.

She said: “I think the Trust have a fantastic leader in Joanne Williams and I am delighted that the children feel valued as a result of her skilful leadership.

“Both Brian and I are delighted to visit and I can see a positivity within the school which was not there before.”

Both councillors have offered to support the school in many ways on its journey to ‘Good’.

Steve Nash, Chairman of the Stanford & Corringham Schools Trust, said “I very much welcome the opportunity for even stronger partnership working with Thurrock Council, and Councillors S. Little and B. Little."
