HUNDREDS of young people took part in a parade to renew their Promises on Canvey.

All sections of 5th Canvey Air Scouts - from Beavers to Explorers - took part in the march on Sunday, complete with their flags.

Dressed in their full uniforms, the youngsters aged from six-years-old up to 18 met at Sydervelt Road and marched to the Paddocks, in Long Road, with their leaders.

Once at the Paddocks, the youngsters renewed their Promise to the Scout Association.

Organisers said there was a fantastic turn out of young people.

All members of the Scout Association take an oath - known as the Promise - when they join the association so that they are aware of the values of Scouting and are committed to sharing these.

Scouts generally renew their Promise every year so that they can keep in mind the values and fundamentals of Scouting and it also provides the opportunity for all sections to get together.

The event was attended by the mayor Castle Point, Steven Cole, the mayor of Canvey, Martin Tucker, Castle Point councillor for Victoria ward Paul Varker as well as past members of Castle Point Scouting.
