TWO unlikely canine friends have a home together for life after being adopted.

American Bulldog Bourbon towers over his tiny pug/chihuahua cross Tequila but the pair became firm friends since arriving at the Dogs Trust and becoming kennel mates.

Sian Hornigold, training and behaviour advisor from Dogs Trust Basildon, said: “Despite their vast difference in size, Bourbon is so soppy around teeny Tequila – he follows her around everywhere and she even stands in between his legs while he towers over, protecting her!

“Seeing them snuggle up together has melted our hearts.

“Staff noticed that whenever Tequila was mixing with the other residents, Bourbon looked really sad when he didn’t have his best friend by his side.

“We’re so happy to hear that the affectionate doggy duo are going off to a loving home together.”

Happily, the pair will now go to their forever home with Janet De Ros, who lives off Southend Road. She said: “The first time I met the pair, Bourbon and Tequila were both so affectionate with me and each other that I knew I couldn’t take one home without the other! I can’t wait for them to join our family.”
