Essex and Suffolk's largest community choir, Funky Voices will be taking to the stage in Chelmsford next month to raise money for Broomfield Hospital.

Celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, singers from the 800 strong choir will be raising the roof at Chelmsford County High School for Girls to raise money towards a surgical robot for the Upper GI Unit at the hospital.

The surgical robot is a state-of-the-art piece of equipment that will help transform the care the surgeons provide to their patients, with a wide range of clinical applications.

Toby Croney, organiser of Funky Voices and partner to musical director, Sandra Colston, last year received a life-saving operation and treatment from Broomfield Hospital after being diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer.

Toby said:“After having surgery and recovery from my operation, the surgical team suggested that I might benefit from joining their support group.

"They are a wonderful group of people who gather once a month to chat, support and help each other. It is there that I found out about the surgical robot and that they have various fundraisers for the project, which I wanted to help with,”

Funky Voices will be holding their concert on Saturday, May 13 from 8.00pm until 9.30pm at the school, performing their version of energetic and uplifting songs from artists such as Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Jessie J and many more.

Tickets can be purchased from their website. www.funkyvoices.co.uk/events/charity-concerts For more information please call 07834765473.
