Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in Chelmsford.

Officers were called at 2.25am today, Sunday April 23, to Queensland Crescent with reports a 38-year-old man from Norwich had suffered stab wounds to his leg.

It is believed he had also been struck over the head with an unknown object.

He was taken to hospital, where he remains undergoing treatment. His injuries are described as serious but not life-changing or life-threatening.

A police cordon was in place from the early hours of this morning and officers were guarding the scene until about 12pm.

Enquiries are ongoing to locate the suspects. They were described as two black men. One was about 5ft 11ins tall and of muscular build and the other was slightly shorter and of slim build.

Acting DI Andy Glister of Chelmsford CID said: “There were a number of people at the scene but left before officers arrived, and I am appealing for anyone who has yet to speak to us to please get in touch, as they may have vital information.”
