A MAN has been charged in connection with an assault in which police officers were headbutted and spat at.

John Terry, 34, of Romford Road, Forest Gate was charged with criminal damage, two counts of assaulting a police officer, actual bodily harm and two charges under section 4A of the Public Order Act.  

The British Transport Police reported that two officers were assaulted during a struggle at Laindon Station, after they responded to reports of a disturbance, shortly before 6pm on March 28.

A BTP officer and an Essex Police officer were kicked, punched, headbutted and spat at, with one of the officers being knocked unconscious.
