A PRIMARY school has won praise from Ofsted following a recent inspection.

The education regulator paid a visit to Giffards Primary School, in Queen Elizabeth Drive, Corringham and found it to be rated good in all areas of inspection.

A five person inspector team, found the school, which has has about 430 pupils on its books, has outstanding early years provision.

Wendy Varney, lead inspector, wrote in a report published today: "The quality of teaching in early years is outstanding. Teachers and teaching assistants work extremely effectively together.

"Teachers ensure that teaching assistants are properly informed about planning so that they know what each activity is intended to achieve. The quality of assessment is very strong and this enables staff to plan highly effectively to meet the needs of individual children
