A HISTORY event and display is set to open to the public.

Kynoch – the local force behind the First World War opens its doors to the public on Monday February 27 at the Thameside Complex, Orsett Road, Grays.

Supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and organised by Thurrock Council’s Museum Volunteers, this event recognises and celebrates the vital role of the Kynoch Explosives Factory during the First World War.

This new exhibition features photographs, personal stories and information on the factory operation.

It also recognises the importance of the Corringham Light Railway, which transported workers to the factory.

The exhibition is on display in the Ground Floor Gallery, Thameside Complex in Grays, from Monday February 27 to Friday March 10 from 10am to 4pm.

As part of the exhibition, a series of free events have been organised, including:

A Family History Help Desk, Grays Library, Orsett Road, Grays on Monday February 27 from 10am to 1pm

A 'Kynoch – the local force behind WW1' presentation, Thameside Theatre, Orsett Road, Grays on Wednesday March 1 at 1.30pm with expert speakers and performance by Woodside Academy choir. Booking is required.

A Corringham Light Railway Walk, beginning from Pegasus Social Club, Herd Lane, Corringham on Saturday March 4 from 11am.
