THE spring season at Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre and Cramphorn Studio has something for everyone from award-winning drama, to comedy and great music.

For drama lovers there is The Verdict, on from Tuesday, April 4 until Saturday, April 8 – the best-selling courtroom thriller that inspired the multi Academy Award-nominated film starring Paul Newman.

The stage production stars two of the UK’s favourite actors – Clive Mantle, star of Casualty and Holby City, and Jack Shepherd, who starred in Wycliffe.

Music lovers can dig out their fish-tailed Parker and blow the dust off their Lambretta because the Mods are coming to Chelmsford from Wednesday, March 29 to Saturday, April 1. All or Nothing is the Mod musical set to the music of The Small Faces.

Other musical productions arriving in the city include a double bill of Gilbert and Sullivan with HMS Pinafore and Trial by Jury from Tuesday, May 9 until Saturday, May 13, presented by Trinity Methodist.

Offspringers present Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream from Tuesday, March 14 to Saturday, March 18.

Comedy fans can laugh along to Fascinating Aida’s Dillie Keane on Thursday, March 9, Stewart Lee on Saturday, March 11 and Andy Parsons on Wednesday, May 3.

Lovers of music can also catch the Take That Experience on March 8 and the Chelmsford-based D’Ukes bring their ukuleles on Saturday, April 8, while Purple Zeppelin will rock the city on Saturday, May 20.
