FORMER Thurrock Council leader Phil Anderson has released a new book, 'Nation in Transit - a manifesto for post Brexit Britain'.

The Essex launch of the book will be on Tuesday December 20 at 7:30pm at Well House Gallery, Horndon on the Hill, Essex, and is open to all.

Speakers at the launch will include, Phil Anderson, Jackie Doyle-Price MP for Thurrock, Andrew Sentance, former member of Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee.

South Essex recorded one of the highest Brexit votes in the country with over 70 per cent of people voting to leave the EU.

Starting from the underlying causes of the mass dissatisfaction that brought us to here, Phil's book spells out a clear vision for what a post-Brexit Britain should look like.

From unemployment to immigration, council estates to the banking industry, and local communities to the global environment, it takes a long, hard look at what really creates the conditions for people and communities to flourish and why we’re just not feeling it as a nation.

The book tackles some of the biggest national issues facing Britain today while remaining firmly rooted in local reality, because "if the solutions don't work for White Van Man, they probably won't work at all".

Stephen Metcalfe, MP South Basildon and East Thurrock said: "Essex is all too often misunderstood and described in simple cliches, I am therefore especially pleased to see that it can also be the source of smart, well informed political writing busting some of the myths.”
