STAFF have raised £1,200 for Fair Havens Hospice with a themed day.

Workers at Cliffs Chiropractic Clinic, in Trinity Avenue, Westcliff, dressed up as super heroes and villains for the charity day.

Throwing caution to the wind and, for some, leaving their embarrassment at home, everyone entered into the spirit of the event, not to mention quite a lot of polyester. They all looked the part, although super heroes outnumbered the villains.

There were a number of prizes and experiences donated by generous local businesses for the raffle to raise extra money.

Staff also baked cakes to be sold.

Fair Havens Hospice, in Chalkwell Avenue, provides specialist care for adults, from the age of 19, with life-limiting illnesses.

This is the second fundraiser for Fair Havens as two years ago it raised £1,000 through a sponsored walk.

Both events were the brainchild of Cliff’s care assistant, Lisa Brown.

She said: “My gran passed away at Fair Havens, so it’s always been a very special place to me.

“This year when I suggested we support the hospice again by becoming super heroes and villains, everyone was delighted to get involved.

“We couldn’t have done this without our patients; they are always so supportive and keen to get involved. I know our theme was super heroes and villains, but the real heroes are our patients.”
