A DANCER who is terrified of snakes and spiders is getting ready to rumble in the jungle as part of ITV’s latest series of I’m a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!

Diversity’s Jordan Banjo, 23, has been confirmed to be taking part in the reality television show which begins this weekend. And he’ll be facing up to his fears in a series of challenging Bushtucker trials.

Jordan hopes to prove he “is not a wimp” during the show, but is worried about meeting too many eight-legged opponents.

He said: “To prepare myself, I have been watching all the Bushtucker Trials on YouTube – but I have been scaring myself.

“If there are spiders around, there is a strong chance there will be tears!”

But he is determined to take on any challenge he comes up against, even those which are out of his comfort zones.

He said: “Every year I watch the show and I say to myself ‘never in a million years could I do that’. Now is my chance to prove to myself I can. I am excited but this is not my idea of a holiday!”

Jordan shot to fame in 2009 after taking part in Britain’s Got Talent alongside his brother Ashley, and friends Ian, Jamie and Matt McNaughton from Basildon, brothers Sam and Mitchell Craske and Warren Russell, from Dagenham, Terry Smith from Rainham, Perri Kiely from South Ockendon, and Ike Ezekwugo, from Leytonstone.

He said: “I know I am lucky to be doing this and to be honest, I still can’t believe I am actually doing it, it’s such an honour.

“As soon as I got the invite, the first person I turned to was my brother, Ash. He is my role model and the person I look up to. “He is so excited for me, he thinks I am very brave.”

But although Jordan is confident he is up to the jungle challenge, he thinks the reality programme will be “far tougher than performing in front of thousands of people in an arena,” as he will not have his dance crew alongside him. He added: “It’s hard I’m going out on my own, I am so used to everybody being around me. I will be interested to see what I learn from it.

“You watch the show and you see the calibre of people in the jungle. You never expect them to be in there.”

Jungle rations have been known to be sparse but Jordan said: “The hungrier I get the more determined I will get. I wish I could say I was like Bear Grylls but I am a creature of comfort and I will miss even general things like going to the cinema.”

Also taking part in the series are former Countdown star and MBE Carol Vorderman, dancer Ola Jordan from Strictly Come Dancing, Scarlett Moffatt from Gogglebox, presenter Lisa Snowdon, actor Larry Lamb, Former England footballer Wayne Bridge, comedian Joell Dommett, Great Britain hockey star Sam Quek and Adam Thomas from Emmerdale.
