HOLLYWOOD wild child Lindsay Lohan spent the day on Southend Pier as she became the latest celebrity to film scenes for a popular cooking show.

The American actress was surrounded by her entourage as she joined Jamie Oliver and Jimmy Doherty at the end of the landmark.

The childhood friends have resumed filming for their popular Channel 4 show Friday Night Feast.

Former child star Lindsay, now 30, is best known for her roles in films Freaky Friday, Parent Trap and Mean Girls.

Crowds gathered on the seafront for a glimpse of her as the cameras began rolling and she stepped out in a white patterned dress.

She is the most recent star to join the duo, following in the footsteps of Alesha Dixon, Fearne cotton, Martin Clunes and Orlando Bloom.

The show, now in its fourth series, sees celebrities visit a pop-up cafe on the pier to have a go at cooking their favourite dish.

Ann Holland, councillor responsible for culture, tourism and the economy, said the A-list appearance was good news for the town.

She said: “It is really exciting and it is always good to have another star join the filming on the pier.

“We are certainly getting a good mix of celebrities in our town.

“It is almost like a tourist attraction in its own right- you could be here all week just to see the celebrities as well as watch the filming for the show.

“I am very excited to see the show when it airs, I can’t wait to see Southend in all its glory.”

Earlier in the day, Jamie and Jimmy were spotted at the Growing Together garden in Fairfax Drive, Westcliff, run by mental health charity Trust Links, with a crew of nearly 20 people.

Jimmy tweeted: “Thanks to the guys at Trust Links, such a great place.”

The duo have been spotted across the borough throughout the last few weeks, including at Southchurch Park.

They were also seen on the beach, filming with video bloggers for a segment of the show.

A few weeks ago, a lucky group of residents got the opportunity to appear in a scene about the simplicity of cooking and preparing mussels.

Filming in Old Leigh, which is renowned for its seafood, a crowd of about 50 people gathered to get expert advice from the chefs.

Filming for series four continues on the pier throughout this week, with the identity of the upcoming celebrity guests being kept tightly under wraps.
