CHILDREN got the opportunity to try out different water sports and learn valuable skills.

The Beach Club, on Eastern Esplanade and Milton Youth and Teens joined together to offer children new experiences.

The youngsters had the opportunity to try out sailing, stand up boarding , kayaking and windsurfing, and took part in beach games and different activities.

Julie Stevens, the Milton Teen & Youth Leader said the day was a huge success. She said: “The day was fantastic, the children loved every single moment. They learned so much and gained so many skills.

“Some of the children hadn’t done anything like this before so it was a really big accomplishment for them.

"If you aren’t part of a club, there isn’t anything like it as a one off so this opens a whole new world for how children look at the sea.

“We had team building games which helped the children bond, making the community stronger.

“The day taught the children about winds and tides, different skills, what to do if the boat capsizes and it teaches them to respect the water.”

The day ended with a fish and chip shop supper.
