A DJ is unable to work after burglars stole £5,000 worth of electrical equipment from her flat.

Bobbie Anderson, 35, returned to her home in Whitmore Way, Basildon, after a meal out with friends to discover it had been ransacked.

Her 60ins Sony TV had been ripped from the wall and two Apple computers had also been swiped.

She said: “I came in through the front door and saw the bamboos I have at the back of the bedsit were all pushed to one side.

“I thought ‘that’s not right.’

“Then I saw that the cupboard had been pulled about a bit.

“When I walked into the living room, I saw the TV had been pulled off the wall. I had it mounted up there.

“I then looked in my kitchen where I kept my DJ equipment and I saw that my Apple Mac laptop and my headphones had gone too.”

The thieves had also made off with Miss Anderson’s Apple desktop computer, which was kept in a cupboard, as well as an Apple Traktor DJ set.

Miss Anderson estimated that the stolen electronics were worth around £5,000.

In their attempt to rip the huge TV off the wall, the burglars knocked into furniture and spilt incense on the floor.

Miss Anderson branded the thieves “disgusting.”

She said: “I DJ at The Joker in Laindon and now I can’t do that anymore because they have taken all my equipment.

“I’ve been trying to get back into it and building up my DJ business by word of mouth but now I can’t.

“I can’t make any money anymore.

“It’s disgusting that they have taken my property that I have saved up and worked hard for.

“I just keep wondering why this has happened to me.”

After Miss Anderson called police, forensics teams visited her flat to look for fingerprints.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Essex Police are appealing for witnesses.

The burglary happened between 6.30pm on Tuesday, July 19 and 12.30am on Wednesday, July 20.
