A JAGUAR landed on its roof in a crash in Wickford.
Residents in Guernsey Gardens were woken early this morning by a smash between a black Jaguar X-Type and a red Hyundai I20.
The driver of the Jaguar, who was believed to be drunk, then fled the scene before police arrived.
An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police are investigating a collision which took place in Guernsey Gardens in Wickford this morning.
“Officers were called shortly after 7.45am to reports that a black Jaguar X-Type and a red Hyundai I20 had been in collision.
“Police arrived to find the Jaguar was on its roof and the driver had left the vehicle. Both vehicles have been recovered. Police are still seeking the driver of the Jaguar.”
One Guernsey Gardens resident said she spoke with the driver before he fled and claimed he was drunk – with a fellow Wickford resident adding he was “nearly killed” by the driver in question at 6.50am that morning in Nevendon Road.
