THESE pictures show the harrowing aftermath of an acid attack on a station platform which left five teenagers burned.

Lee Elliott, 17, who goes by the name of "Boysey", suffered horrific burns to his face, and potentially "life-changing" injuries to his eyes. Tyrone Terry, 17, was also seriously hurt with potentially life-changing burns to his mouth and tongue.

Other victims Billy Milne, 17, and Connor Leeman, 16, suffered burns to their faces. While Kane Richards, 18, suffered burns to his hand.

Police were called to Ockendon station at about 12.45am on Sunday, following the violence they believe was a random attack.

The perpetrators had already fled on the train travelling from Southend to Barking.

Officers had released a CCTV image of a teenager they want to urgently speak with.

On Wednesday morning, British Transport Police confirmed a teenager had handed himself in.

A force spokesman said: "A 17-year-old male from Dagenham contacted police and has subsequently been arrested in relation to this incident. He is currently helping police with their enquiries."

The 17-year-old male, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, appeared at Basildon Youth Court this morning (Thursday, 26 May).

Meanwhile victim Lee Elliot's mother Tanya Elliott, 43, said: “This has destroyed him and I want justice.

“When I saw him I had panic attacks and I couldn’t breathe, it has broken all of our hearts.

“They were just waiting for a train coming home from a party.

“Elliott said about ten people who were on a train that stopped, and started screaming at them, trying to get them on the train. Then the group went up to the kids and just started squirting them with a fluid.”

Police said the man in the CCTV image approached the five friends on the platform while holding his hands behind his back.

After a brief chat he removed his hands from behind his back and squirted the group with a bottle containing an unknown liquid. He then got back onboard the 11.44 c2c train from Southend to Barking.

All five victims were taken to Basildon Hospital. The boys who were seriously hurt were transferred to the specialised burns unit at Broomfield.

Miss Elliott, who lives in Tilbury, continued: “Who does that to someone? It’s just evil."

Investigating officer Det Sgt Gail McKemmie said: “This was a particularly vicious and alarming assault which has left some of the victims with potentially life changing injuries. This was an unprovoked and violent incident and it is essential that those responsible are identified and brought to justice.

“Although our investigation is in its early stages, it would appear that this was a random and isolated incident."
