Police are trying to trace Andrew Naulder, who is wanted in relation to an assault in Wickford on May 12.
Naulder, 27, was last known to be living in Laindon.
He is white, of stocky build, around 5ft 9ins tall, with brown eyes and has a tribal pattern tattoo on his left arm.
Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to call Sgt Keith Banks at Rayleigh police station on 101.
