Grays Library are hosting special stalls tomorrow for Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.

The council’s libraries have teamed up with charities and c2c to promote awareness of fibromyalgia, a long-term condition that causes pain all over the body.

Fibromyalgia is known as an incurable condition, which often causes disability and makes people unable to work with up to 2.7 million suffererers in the UK alone - but as charities say, with the right support it can be managed.

Fibromyalgia Action UK and FM Support South East Essex will be holding information stalls between 10am and 2pm at Grays library on the national Fibromyalgia Awareness Day.

Information about services available, including leaflets and advice, will be on offer.

Leaflets from FMA UK will also be available from all the council’s libraries.

Train operator c2c is supporting the initiative and posters about fibromyalgia and how to get help will also be displayed at Thurrock’s seven train stations this week.

Ella Vine, Executive Officer at Fibromyalgia Action UK said: “We would like to thank c2c and Thurrock Council’s libraries for supporting this initiative.

“We hope that the awareness raising in Thurrock will help many people to get diagnosed and to get the right help.”

The next meeting of FMSupport South East Essex is on Thursday June 30 at 7.30pm in the Stanford-le-Hope Methodist Church.
