DETECTIVES are appealing for information about an attempted robbery where thugs attacked a Basildon dad with a pole.

Josemom Yohannan, 45, of Gladwyns, had parked his car in a communal car park and was locking the doors at about 11.40pm on Tuesday, February 2, when two suspects approached him from behind.

One hit him on the back of the head, causing a one inch cut, which required hospital treatment.

He demanded the victim’s car keys but they were not handed over and both suspects ran off empty handed.

They were described as being aged between 18 and 20.

One was about 5ft 3ins tall, of medium build, and wore a dark hooded top with white writing on the front and around the hood.

The second was about 5ft 10ins tall, very thin, and wore a dark hooded top.

Police would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Gladwyns and nearby Little Lullaway at the time and saw what happened, or two men fitting the descriptions given.

They are asked to call DC Nicholas May at Basildon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
