AFTER three months of testing gym sessions with personal trainer Callum Pretty, the final results are in.

So, how did our reporters do?

Neil Hawkins said: “What a few months that was!

"I’ve gone from complete novice with no confidence in how to use equipment at the Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, to now looking forward to and getting fully into the swing of the gym.

“Oh, did I mention the positive effect it’s had on me?

"I wasn’t particularly looking to lose weight, but I’ve shed just short of 2kg.

"Happily, I’ve also lost nearly two inches off my waist, which means the nice suit I bought in the summer now properly fits!

"I’m stronger, sleeping better and now have a love for avocados!”

Charlotte Austen-Hardy said: “The last three months have been hard. I’ve simultaneously loved and hated every second.

“Despite taking a few weeks off due to illness and Christmas being right in the middle, I’m delighted with my results.

"I’ve lost 16 pounds in weight, 5.5 inches off my waist and my body fat has dropped by 20.5 pounds.

“From someone who couldn’t run for a minute and who struggled to do a squat without falling over, I’m now regularly running for 20 minutes and lifting 40kg.

"I've also signed up for a 10km charity run in May - something I would have never considered before!

“But one of the biggest changes has been to my confidence.

"I was feeling unfit, unhealthy and quite low about how I looked but now I honestly feel the best I have for years.”

Callum added: “I’m exceptionally impressed with Neil’s progress throughout.

"Although I knew he wasn’t a massive fan of the gym, it didn’t take long for him to get the bug and you could tell he wa s starting to really enjoy his sessions.

"Not only did he show massive improvements in strength, he also became more confident and knowledgable using gym equipment.
